More Fall Photos
Today, Don and Chris had taken Barb for a doctor's appointment and when they were finished Barb wanted to go to Wendy's for lunch. So Mom and I met them there. It was first time in a long time for Barb to get out in the world. She seemed to really enjoy it. It is a beautiful very warm, sunny day here--the kind of day where the sun just smiles on you with warmth. After our lunch we followed them back to the rehab. Barb was immediately taken in for her physical therapy so Mom, Chris, and I sat outside on their nice patio area and played Rummy 500. Was a new game for me and lots of fun. Mom beat us, of course. She always wins. Barb sat with us outside for a bit after her therapy was done then headed inside for a nap after her busy day. She is getting so much stronger that she is ready to graduate from the wheel chair to the walker. I am hoping that maybe she will get to go home sometime next week.
So we are back at Mom's. I have sure enjoyed her fast internet. Been surfing lots. Fall always gets me in the cooking mood so have downloaded lots of good recipes from the web. Then last night found a huge homesteading sight with all kinds of gardening/livestock/farming kind of information. It was a forum which I am new to but enjoyed reading what others are doing. I am trying to find out more information on raising quail since I now have one.
Have I posted about Robbie, my new quail? Three Bobwhite quail showed up on our place. They sounded so cheerful with their quaint little whistles and "bob white" call. They kind of roamed the neighborhood then Alisa found one injured so I brought it home and put it in a cage. Then later the same day my cat had the other one in her mouth and I rescued it and put it in the cage. The next day I still heard the other one way down the block. A day later I heard it right outside my window and managed to catch it, so then I had three quail. But sadly, the two injured ones died so I am left with only one. He is a cheerful little guy who talks all the time. He lives in our wire dog crate on the back porch. We are thinking if would be fun to raise them. There used to be Bobwhite quail all around our house when we moved there 30 years ago but they slowly disappeared. I would love to have them back. So I am trying to learn all I can about raising them.
